How Wickline reads, searches and cites
Five questions people ask before they trust a research assistant with real work, answered with the product itself.
Which files can it actually read?
The files you already keep, scans included
Fourteen formats, up to 200 MB each. Wickline keeps the page, paragraph, slide or cell for every passage, so a citation always lands somewhere real.
PDFs, typed or scanned
Scans go through text recognition first. Faded pages get a confidence note on their sources.
Spreadsheets and tables
XLSX and CSV keep their rows and headers, and tables inside scans are rebuilt cell by cell.
Documents and slides
DOCX keeps headings and tracked changes. PPTX cites the slide number and the speaker notes.
Saved web pages
Paste a link and Wickline saves a copy, so the source doesn't change under your answer.
Email exports
EML and MBOX files keep sender, date and thread, which makes "who agreed to what" answerable.
Notes and plain text
Markdown, TXT and HTML from your wiki read cleanly, with headings as locations.
What does a real answer look like?
Plain words, the searches it ran, and a source for each claim
This is a real thread layout from the app. Open the tool calls, click a number, and see how each sentence ties back to a passage.

Input
{ "query": "cash position OR runway OR cash balance", "files": ["board-pack-q2.pdf", "board-pack-q3.pdf"] }Output18 passages; best: q2 p. 6 table 2, q3 p. 7 table 2, q3 p. 9 note 4
-
Output
Q2 closing cash 4.82M; Q3 closing cash 3.96M; Q3 monthly burn 287K
Cash fell by $860,000 over the quarter, from $4.82M to $3.96M 1 2. Two things drove most of it:
- Monthly burn rose to $287,000 after the September hires 2.
- A one-time $140,000 deposit on the new office 3.
The Q3 pack puts runway at 13.8 months. The Q2 pack didn't state runway, so I can't compare that figure directly.

- 2board-pack-q3.pdfp. 7, table 2

Includes a refundable deposit of $140,000 on the Marlow Road lease.
Can it write the memo, not just answer?
Drafts open beside the thread, with their sources kept
Ask for a letter, a summary or a table and it lands in the side panel as an artifact. Edit it there, ask for changes in the thread, and export with citations as footnotes.
- Versions in the panel, so "go back to v2" is one click
- The passage the last turn changed is marked until you reply
- Exports to DOCX and Markdown, citations become footnotes
- Tables export to CSV with a source column
Who can see my files, and for how long?
You, the people you share with, and nobody else
Files are encrypted at rest and in transit. Model providers process requests under contracts that forbid training and keep nothing after the answer.
